All Souls Day Tradition: Vanishing

When I was still young, whenever All Souls Day (November 1) is fast approaching, I can still remember that my Grandma would really make preparations in accordance with Philippine tradition in celebrating the event. Being a religious person and a member of an organization in the church I can see her buying flowers, preparing the novena booklets, writing all the names of our dead relatives so that she can offer mass for them. During the day itself she would go to the cemetery with the rest of the family members to visit the tomb of our love ones.

It makes me reminisce these kind of preparations for I grew up with my Grandmother, in fact she greatly contributed to the molding of my moral values - I was very close to her. But now that Ive grown and seeing other people celebrate All Souls Day like the Westerners, it really was disappointing. Starting October 31 where people pattern this what Westerners call "trick or treat" or the All Hallows Day dressing up like vampires, ghosts, zombies, etc. It really degrades our own culture as it is slowly been replaced by foreign ways or tradition. Before most people would go to the cemetery to visit their loves ones and spending time and praying for the salvation of their souls. But now only few remembered this genuine Philippine Tradition as others would rather go to a Halloween party or out of town event. We all have to remember that All Souls Day is the day for us to remember and pray for our loves ones because even if they are dead they still a need to be cared.

Google Plus is out in the wild

Google Plus connects users worldwide just like Facebook. But many were disappointed because you need to be invited first by someone who has a Google plus account or by the company itself before you can start using it. There was a certain time that Google limits users to send invitations because of the huge volume of people that joined the network.

Now, it is finally open to the public and there's no need for someone to wait for an invitation to be able to join the newest social networking site offered by Google.

Google Plus: Will it ever catch up?

Google Plus is the new social networking site offered to the public by the Internet giant company Google. If I'm not mistaken it is created to compete with the most popular social media site Facebook. Facebook now has 800 million users worldwide but Google Plus is not a slacker in terms of people using it. In just 4 months it has gathered 40 million users and no other site has ever done that.
Before Facebook has been the authority in social media, Friendster was the popular choice. But like they said "what goes up most go down" so eventually its glory didn't last long for other social sites came to compete with it. Myspace.com dethroned Friendster in terms of usability, site performance and interface. Until Facebook was born to the scene and wipe them all out. So what am I implying here? Simple, there will come a time even if how popular a site it will soon become outdated and outrun  by other sites. People love to try out new things and social networking is not an exemption to it. With Google Plus present on the scene it will definitely give Facebook a glitch in its glory.

Will Google Plus ever catch up with Facebook? My answer to that is YES!

Blogger for bloggers

Online writing specifically blogging has been my past time for almost a month now. At first there were hesitations but finally I have gain interest in sharing my thoughts through blogging.

Blogger.com is one of the few choices to consider as his/her blogging platform. What's nice about blogger is that it's very simple to use for someone who is not that savy in terms of blogging. One doesn't need to be an expert in I.T. or computers to use this platform. In fact this is what I'm using now. All you need to do is to have an gmail email address and enroll it to Blooger.com by creating an account and just follow the step by step procedure. You can even opt to monetize your account so that you can earn revenue through google adsense.

ABS-CBN's final verdict on ryan bang

Last Saturday, October 8, 2011 Dimples Romana made a selfless sacrifice to exit voluntarily as a judge on ABS-CBN's Show Time wherein she saw that most of the host where greatly affected by the eviction of Ryan Bang who stayed as a judge for almost 48 weeks on the show. Although she was not given enough time to explain herself on air but she made an impression to the public that Ryan Bang will take her place. Right after the show, social networking sites were flooded with so many reactions. Some were voicing out concerns like the management should follow the set rules that whoever judge will get the higher votes for audience share will automatically be evicted. Others were showing sympathy and support to Dimples and to her sacrifice to let Mr. Bang stay.
October 10, 2011 (Monday) - Bobet Vidanes, director of the show has finally made an official statement in behalf of ABS-CBN stating that although they were saddened by the result of the eviction but they must continue to give entertainment to the public and that includes to follow the rules of the show, therefore Ryan Bang is officially evicted from being a hurado on Showtime.
