10 steps for the year 2012 to good health

1. Check and examine your BMI(Body mass index) by calculating weight divided by height in metre squared. The ideal value is 23, you should train and aim for at least 25. The mathematics of BMI is a dynamic equation between calories consumed and burned.
2. Don’t be stationary but get moving. Doctors now recommend walking or running for at least 50 minutes every day moving your arms vigorously. You can also try climbing stairs for 30 minutes at least.
3. De-stress your mind by trying methods like Tai-Chi, Yoga or meditation.

4. Enjoy. Have fun with friends or family by going on holidays pursuing hobbies or playing regularly with them.
5. Prevent Heart problems by exercising regularly, not smoking and eating healthy.
6. Eating smart and good by watching what you eat. Have a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fibre and fish.
7. Visit the health clinics or the medical practitioners regularly A medical examination should be done every 9 months recording the height, weight, blood pressure,and condition of the heart, lungs and the abdomen. The eyes and teeth should also be evaluated.
8. Keep chronic diseases under control like diabetes renal or other chronic ailments.
9. Remember your shots. Children need to follow the pediatric schedule strictly whilst the older people should get their influenza shots and other pneumonia vaccines after a certain age.
10. Supplements like Vitamins, and particularly Calcium supplements around 1200 mg a day are needed in both older men and women.
